1、Jiang Tai Gong's Fishing
　Covering an area of one thousand mu, The Shanghu Lake gains its name form the legend that Jiang Taigong once fished here and the literary quotation form Mencius—“Evading King Zhou’s persecution, Taigong lived by the shore of the East China Sea”. Now, many people fish here for cultivating morality, molding temperament, and enjoying themselves. Here has been a paradise for tourists from home and abroad. Who can solve the implicated mystery?

2、The birds’ singing in the marshland
　　The Shanghu Lake is a city marshland park of the state with a planed area of 25m2 and a water area of 800 ha in the central part. Over 500 kinds of different animals and plants are available here, among which 15 kinds are of state-level and provincial level protection types.
Sailing on a bamboo raft into the world of water, the faint scent of aquatic plants will be your company and the birds’ singing will hover by your side.

3、Enjoying lake scenery in gaily-painted pleasure-boats
　　The anchorage ground of gaily-painted pleasure-boats is encircled by winding corridors with the simple and elegant style of late Qing dynasty. Boarding the Gongwang boat, Rushi boat, Tangyin boat or Ziya boat, you will meet wonderful sceneries—the dark blue distant hills, the rippling and sparkling water, the lying rainbow bridge on the wave, the purple mountain air and the jade-like banks. The lake with flying gulls and egrets bathing in various kinds of sunlight is a superior landscape fascinating people with its sparking wave under the clear sky, or its sunshine of the setting sun on the water surface, or its dyed rosy clouds up in the heaven. No wonder Qian Qianyi of the Qing dynasty had the high praise: “Clear waves constantly bath in the sunshine, inverted images of fairy trees shake unevenly in the redden lake”.

4、The Fishermen’s happy life
　　Water in the Shanghu Lake is like smooth silk and a bright mirror. The Music and Singing Stage is built according to the seven string-like rivers and the instructions from Yanzi’s singing to the accompaniment of stringed instruments. By a fisherman’s scull boat, visitors from far and near gather at the stage for admiring late wisdoms’ calligraphy and poems carved on the pillars, honoring songs and prose about the Shanghu Lake, and taking a broad view at the blue hills, green water and jade-like islets. Immersed in the sounds of nature, tourists enjoy themselves so much as to almost forget to return home.

5、Misty rains of the Shanghu Lake
　　 When the Lake Shanghu is covered in the misty rain, When the Shanghu Lake is enveloped by misty rains, flying in the hollow and hazy hills immersed by boundless and indistinct clouds and water, a drizzle is just going to moisten clothes of tourists. Go boating and fishing on the lake or just listening to the singing of the rain in a gaily-painted pleasure boat, you may place yourself in a dimly discernible cloudland like a mirage with forests and pavilions gleaming in the mountain clouds and indistinctive mist changing irregularly. In the Rain Scene of the Lake Field, Yan Chaobiao of the the Qing dynast depicted it as “a hazy drizzle greets our eyes, a picturesque water village leans close to the lake and hills”.

6、The Double-pavilion site
　　The double-pavilion is a lakeshore scene of the Water-flicking Villa owned by Qian Qianyi and Liu Rushi, an eminent writer in Southeast China and a well-know beauty during the late Ming- and early Qing period. Here, the aged husband and his young wife stayed together day and night harmoniously and affectionately. In order to commemorate them, today’s people build the double-pavilion for Qian and Liu in the Landscape & Culture Garden of the Shanghu Lake. Unearthed relics during the Liangzhu period are placed in another pavilion. The double-pavilion and Liangzhu relics echo to be a scene which brightens the centuries-old culture and history of the Shanghu Lake and becomes a place for recalling forefathers with deep-felt emotion.

7、The Shanghu Lake night scenery
　　The Water-flicking Dike is planted with beautiful flowers and dancing willows which resemble strips of colored ribbons rubbing the water. During the late Ming- and early Qing period, the eminent writer in Southeast China, Qian Qianyi, built the Water-flicking Villa at the lakefront and a long dike on the lake, and the gifted female scholar, Liu Rushi, painted the picture named “the Moon Dike and Mist Willow”, which is praised far and wide as a much-told story. To this end, the Water-flicking Dike is also called the Moon Dike or the Lover’s Dike. The Moon-stringing Bridge at the middle of the long dike is so light and elegant that in a clear night, the sight of the seventeen inverted images of the bridge openings stringing together and overlapping with the shadow of the moon becomes a marvelous spectacle.

8、The peony vying with each other for glamour
　　Over 20 thousand individual plants of peony belonging to 8 color series and over 200 categories settle in the Peony Garden which has an area of more than 20 thousand m2. The number of categories and the square measure of planting area are both at the top in the south of the lower reaches of the Changjiang River. “Going to Lake Shanghu to appreciate peony in Spring”. Ever since 1992, the Lake Shanghu Peony Exhibition held once in a year as the best celebrating way of holidays in the Suzhou area is a new-formed tradition of Jiangnan areas; it has drawn the attention of hundreds of thousands of tourist from all over China. Luoyang, Heze, Changshu and Pengzhou have jointly held a series of peony exhibitions for years, and the Lake Shanghu Peony Exhibition of Changshu has become an important part of the “Chinese Peony Tour” of the Tourism Cooperation Alliance.

9、The fragrance of lotuses drifting about in the air
　　The Lotus Fragrance Islet gets her fame from the lotus which bears a genuine description of “boundless green lotus leaves reaching to the horizon, unique red lotus flowers mirroring the sun”. In the midsummer, lotus leaves are linked each other with cuspate buds erecting gracefully and the water lilies are in full bloom with limpid dews just going to drop from the pink petals and translucent water pearls glittering on the white petals. A ghost of faint scent gladdens the heart and refreshes the mind. It really can be say that “ten miles of lotus exhale fragrant wind, white clouds and blure sky are in one bright mirror”.

10、The waterfall in steep cliffs
　　The yellow stone rockwork enjoys the title of “the number one artificial hill in the East China”. In a distant view, the hill body has a natural vigor, clear lines and a random but reasonable makeup. In a near view, the up-down connecting hill roads twist and turn. The facade of the rockwork resembles an elk entertaining its parents and the side of the rockwork looks like Taigong sitting uprightly. Beside the alleys and near the rockwork, seal cutting works of the Yushang School and scripts of celebrities are displayed on the rock.
The waterfall from the peak is like the water dropping from clouds in the heaven. The water flies rapidly down to the deep pool and hits the projecting rocks, which brings out splashing beads, diffusing water mist and roaring sounds. What a splendid feast of sounds and colors. Staying in the cave between the rockwork and the waterfall, you will have a distinctive experience to admire and feel the waterfall. The whole sight is elaborately piled and skillfully constructed to reach the highest degree of professional proficiency.
